Demographics discussion on March 6:

  • For the first time since the Industrial Revolution, employers are finding themselves face-to-face with Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Gen Xers and Gen Ys. According to recent survey results from Workopolis, Canada’s largest and most popular Internet recruiting and job search provider, 47% of Halifax-based HR professionals said helping their managers engage and motivate all four generations was their biggest challenge in managing a multi-generation workplace. Meanwhile, 23% believed retention of younger employees was their biggest challenge. To combat this widening generational gap, Workopolis is holding its second annual Power Breakfast seminar series in Halifax on March 6 to help HR managers better understand the solutions to the challenges posed by the multi-generation workplace.
